This project consisted of the construction of a part two/three storey 450 m² extension to the existing School and a new build, 840 m² steel portal frame sports hall. Included was the provision of 7 No. classrooms; stores; offices and Ladies and Gents toilets, along with the refurbishment of existing classrooms. Associated site works included the alteration to the existing entrance road, new car parking, a sit down area, landscaping and grounds lighting.
The construction generally comprised in-situ concrete strip and pad foundations with solid block work rising walls; external rendered block work insulated cavity walls; internal rendered off fair faced block work and precast concrete floor and stair units. The Sports Hall comprised of a structural steel and concrete frame with Kingspan composite metal roofing whilst the extension comprised of timber truss and a natural slate roof. Powder coated aluminium doors and windows were installed along with associated Mechanical, Electrical and Lift installations.
We completed the building to a very high spec including suspended ceilings; fitted furniture; floor coverings; floor and wall tiling and decoration. The existing school remained operational during the construction of the new facilities with the existing prefabricated classrooms being protected during construction.
